The idea behind Thea came from our founder, Baker, when he was a junior in high school. He saw a gap — he believed there were simply no good study applications — and being enthusiastic about everything technical, he started building his own.
When large language models emerged, Baker signed up on day one and integrated AI into his developing platform. He envisioned something that could do all the busywork needed to start studying — flashcards, summaries, study guides — and then dynamically tutor learners with questions of increasing complexity, prioritizing understanding over memorization.
